Spring Blossoms with Heather Texture
available on Imagekind
Oooh-la-la, I do love to play with photos.
It started years ago with hand coloring black and white images with paint.
Then, I moved on to Polaroid image transfers.
Next, I learned how to create impressionistic images with the Orton effect by sandwiching two slides together, one in focus and one blurred. Now, I can achieve that effect digitally.
Lately, with the iPad, I know I am not alone in having tons of fun with photography apps, like Instagram, ColorBlast! HD, and iPicEd. There are communities developing around those apps. But, this week, I am playing with photo textures, courtesy of the very creative and helpful Flypaper Textures.
Having recently purchased their Spring Painterly pack of textured images, I am enjoying mixing and matching them with recent spring images (my favorite so far being the one featured at the top of this post). Thankfully, Flypaper Textures has excellent tutorials on site to help people learn the process. However, it is one of those things you just have to do and play with to get the effects you want.
It makes me feel very creative.
